The moon wasn't down yet when he got up out of bed. He lifted the blanket covering his body off and rythmitically, almost instinctually, he stepped on his phone hard enough to cause cracks. Except for his wife's snoring, the house was silent.

The thoughts of ducks, his baby son's favourite, flooded his mind, as he took, one step, five, eight—bam! His head collided into the door. His hands grasped for a knob but found a handle. He had recently moved.

He hunched into the middle of the hallway. Without turning on the lights, he began moving towards his sons room, Robert. Pictures of ducks covered every inch of the room. Robert obsession with them began on his third birthday, and had lasted untill his current age of five.

Currently, he laid curled up in the bed, fake sleeping. Merely two minutes ago, he watched youtube videos on his phone. Robert's heart thumped louder and faster as his father approached the bed in the corner of the room.

"I'm sorry, I'll go to sleep now," Robert couldn't take the pressure, but when he looked up he didn't see the face he expected. Hands stretched out towards Robert's neck, and for five minutes his father chocked him as if gripping onto an edge for his life.

Then he woke up.
