There was once a young couple who got married under the watchful eye of the husband’s overbearing mother; she watched over that couple with a dreadful malice as they lived their newly married life.

One day after a huge argument, the wife threw a glass vase at the mother and insisted she and her husband move out of her evil mother-in-law’s harbourside mansion and into a small cottage for two by the rocks that jutted out into the angry ocean; and so they did.

The cottage was light blue with a yellow trim that was aged by the weather, and they were happy there. Over time, the husband taught himself how to fish and they lived on seafood every night.

One day, while casting his line out to sea for the day, the hook on the husband’s fishing line got caught on his wife’s eye. He pulled his rod back hard, trying to remove the hook, but pulled his wife’s eye out clean. She howled in pain.

After this, the couple were no longer in wedded bliss, and soon they slept in separate beds; eventually the fisherman went home to live with his narcisstic mother again, who was very happy to have her son back.

The fisherman’s wife stayed at the cottage, where she taught herself to fish and live free of men.

One day, while fishing, a young man was casting his line out. His hook got caught on his girlfriend’s eye and she screamed in pain.

The fisherman’s wife was there in no time. She removed the hook quickly, and pushed the young man into the angry ocean which swallowed him whole.

The young lady was extremely relieved and thanked the fisherman’s wife for her help. Thanks to her, she was able to keep both her eyes.

And now since that day, you will see an old lady hobbling along the rocks, looking for any fishermen who may not be casting there lines out to see carefully – if they get it wrong, she will make sure they pay the price.
