Just a few moments, that’s all it’ll take.

Do you know how little time is in a moment? A single breath, a heartbeat, that’s all. It’s nothing, but sometimes it’s everything. A moment is all it takes for everything to change. A yes to a no, a win to a loss, a thought to change.

I’m from the year 2156 and things are bad. I don’t have the words or the time left to explain, but think of the worst case scenarios and make it even worse. It was beyond anyone’s imagination.

There aren’t many of us left, the hope is all we have, but it’s dwindling. Some think of prayer or battle for the little that remains. I chose to put my hope into the doctor’s plan, that everyone thought was crazy but me. An idea of changing the past. A butterfly effect from a few moments that would change everything, that would put us onto a new path, a new direction that would avoid the loss of everything we had ever loved. It was a slim hope but it was better than anything else we had left.

The doctor made the risks clear, we had no idea what changing the past would do to the future, what would happen to us, but I buried my last child six months ago, I would give my life a million times for them to have a fighting chance. So we worked and worked, for years without stopping. We worked on the machine, on figuring out the source of the butterfly effect, and eventually we found out answer in the most mundane of days, with the last person we expected. It’s amazing how the smallest things can end up so terrible.

So I thank you for the moments you’ve spent reading my message that travelled so far. You’d be surprised how it will affect your day and the days that follow.

And now we pray that the timeline this will create will be the better timeline than the one we came from, but of course there’s no way to tell for a hundred years. I truly hope this won’t have too much detrimental impact on your life.
