I was driving through the woods on a humid and sweaty august night, on my way home to my girlfriend after a week working away from home so I was in a pretty good mood despite been exhausted.

I was just thinking what I’d get up to when I arrive home when I saw deer dart out of the trees in front of me, across the road and into the trees at the other side. I slammed on the breaks just as it passed in front of me but by then it was gone.

I peered into the trees but it was futile so I set off again, shaking my head “fucking deer” I said to myself. For the next ten minutes I drove in peace thinking of how inconvenient it would be if I hit it. “I’d need to see a mechanic, I wouldn’t see my girl, I’d need…” my thoughts were cut off when I heard something, my engine? No it was at thudding sound, my tires? I don’t think so. Just as I was thinking my peripheral vision caught something, I turned my head and… my god what I saw still makes me shiver.

A deer running along side me, only it wasn’t a deer. I mean it had the head of a deer but it’s body was all wrong, it’s legs were too long and it’s eyes where just crevices in it’s head. It wasn’t one of these demonic creatures of the night you hear in urban legends but this was truly the most disturbing thing I’ve ever seen.

I put my foot down in the acceleration, 70,80,90mph and this thing was still right at my side I was pushing 100mph and I couldn’t go any faster, I was slowly losing hope until I say headlights up ahead. And despite its lack of eyes, this abomination turned and did what I can only describe as a smile as it’s face contorted, revealing dagger like teeth, before it veered off into the trees.

What terrifies me most is the fact that while I was away I saw a deer consistently, watching me through the windows and now I can’t help but think it stalked me 50 miles down the road and if it did that, could it find my home?
