Jim had woken up in a dark room.

A very spacious dark room, he had been moving around for hours yet he had not managed to reach a wall. It was very empty and everything was in complete darkness, one would think they’d gone blind even if they’ve had eyesight all their life.

Jim didn’t panic at first, he wasn’t even scared, he had had a tough life, a dark room wasn’t enough to spook him. He knew not to panic, so in an act of what could either be called courage or stupidity, he laid down on the floor and tried to sleep, he had been walking for hours after all.

open your eyes Jim”. Said a voice, it was a very soft sound, but one that echoed like thunder in the empty room.

“Where are you?! Why am I here?!” Jim demanded, immediately standing up.

“I am… everything”**.

“WHERE ARE YOU?!” he screamed furious.

“Jim…. I am here, open your eyes, you can see me. I am everything.**”

“Y-you…are you… the room?”

I am everything*…. I want you to suffer, to scream, to cry and whimper in agony”

“…”

“I desire entertainment, a distraction from the endless torture of eternity….”

“W…why me?”

“That is your purpose. To suffer and rot until you are no longer human. To wither but never die. You are my everything, Jim.”

Jim hadn’t opened his eyes once, and from that moment on, he kept them closed even if there was no difference.

He would walk endlessly, from time to time he would feel something piercing his skin, like a thousand needles stabbing him in every corner of his body. There would be something walking beside him, it’s footsteps sounded like broken glass and it would scream for hours on end until Jim’s ears bled. Then there was the silence, one so drowning in its infinite numbness he couldn’t help but sit down and cry, but the worst part was the dark, because he could not see his own suffering.

Even so, Jim never lost hope, he powered on and kept walking in the face of the merciless being that tortured him, there was no doubt in his mind that he would get out eventually.

He did get out, he got out of the room, he saw sunlight again. All thanks to the hope that kept him alive.
