2.9.1967. The day is tomorrow

”Day before the great Dagen H, the H day the feelings have been mixed in the streets of Stockholm. We decided to make a quick gallup in the main marketplace and point out some questions that the general public has and maybe also answer some.

First of course is “what benefit is there to go ‘H’, höger, instead staying ‘V’, vänster?” Answer is to be compliant with Europe and with its regulations. Also the trade between countries become easier and there is expected to be less “accidents”

The most asked question was “is it safe to change to H?” Answer is with all the re-education and public campaigns that have been going on, yes it should be. It really doesn’t differ much from the V but of course it pays to be prudent. ”We expect no casualties” say HTK experts.

One question that we got was “do we all have to follow this law to go H?” And yes we all must. There is a grace period when the punishment is more lenient but its punishable offens to stay V when everyone else is H. It could prove to be lethal to stay V. The Statens HTK is set to oversee the change

The poll showed that still 72% were against the change. In 1955 referendum it was 83 percent. But Swedish parliament has given it green light. And its also expected that Iceland will also go H in the future.

So get ready to be H tomorrow. If you have problems with the conversion tomorrow, the police have been given special instructions to help. There will be some big changes done to the cityscape tomorrow. Prepare to see your city from completely different side. And remember “Håll dig till höger, Svenson”
