My eyes are slowly opening as if I had been woken up to a bright light after hours of sleeping. I stood up and looked around. Strangely, I found myself in this odd car park kind of building with pillars and ceiling lights that seemed to go on endlessly. I looked in front of me, and far in the distance I could see this small light. A car possibly? A flashlight? Another person? As my thoughts were questioning everything, I started looking behind me. After squinting my eyes and a bit of focusing, I saw this vague dark figure. I couldn’t tell what it was, it was just too far away. What was it? A vehicle? A person? I couldn’t tell.

It felt as if I was dreaming, yet it all seemed so real, too real. I was thinking of what to do. Where do I go? To the light? The darkness? Or neither of them? I thought and stared for a while until I just started walking to no particular direction at all.

After quite some time, I stopped walking. I felt lost, an indescribable sense of being lost. How long have I been walking for? A few hours? A day? Multiple? I lost track. I again looked at the light and the dark figure. Did it move? Did I come closer? Did it come closer? My heart was pounding.

For another while, which felt like an eternity, I decided to not look at the darkness again and walk away from it to check eventually if it did in fact come closer. I looked back. I was shocked. As what was first something barely noticeable was now an outline. My heart started racing. What should I do? It was clearly travelling towards me and was faster than me. It was at this point that I started noticing a very slight buzz like that from a fan somewhere in the background. Was it always there? How did I not notice? Where is it coming from?

I started walking again, faster this time. I grew more and more nervous every second, as did the loudness of the buzz. Was it making that noise? How close was it? Afraid of looking back, I tried to ignore it and started jogging. I grew more and more tired, the buzz was becoming louder and my heart kept on beating faster. At this point it was too loud to even try to ignore it, and something about that made me snap. I started running. Unable to feel my legs, I kept on running on pure adrenaline. The light I was running to was now completely gone. I trembled and fell onto the floor. Too afraid to look behind me, I stayed in the position I was, completely frozen of fear. What is this place? What is behind me? Is this it?

Feeling hopeless, I still managed to drag some courage out of me from wherever it remained. I then slowly turned around and saw it.
