The first little bunny hopped around all day
They ate in the yard under the maple’s shade
Such a cute happy thing that liked to dance and play
And then out of the sky a giant hawk slammed down and absolutely obliterated the tiny creature; there was blood everywhere and only a few bones were left in the end.

The second little bunny was a quiet one
They ate the river roots and avoided the sun
Such a smart young thing that seemed to hate any fun
But some of the beasts in the river are carnivorous and find rabbits to be a delicious treat, and within a split second the entire body had been gulped up.

The third little bunny followed mama’s way
Eating little treats in the month of May
They sat real still to camouflage their place
Unfortunately for them, hunting dogs rely on their keen sense of smell and found the target within mere seconds, and soon enough it got a peppered spray of hot lead.

The fourth little bunny shivered in the snow
It hadn’t eaten much and its belly groaned
Each and every step became a bit more slowed
And honestly this one isn’t really that much of a surprise as hypothermia can set in within a few minutes and by that time they were already beyond screwed.

The fifth little bunny tried to act real nice
Following the guidelines of the cop’s advice
To get a second chance they would pay any price
But this isn’t about money at all, it’s about the control and if they’d paid better attention they’d know that cooperating would only buy them a bit of extra time at best.

The sixth little bunny wasn’t too confused
They’d lived a life of being constantly abused
It’s not a perfect world but that’s no excuse
For doing something so horrible over and over again, there’s not always a solid reason – it can take years of mental instability to drive someone to that kind of place and by then it’s usually too late for them.

The seventh little bunny wasn’t little at all
He wore a belt of knives and denim overalls
He carried a big rifle and he stood real tall
And he hunted ‘little bunnies’ spring, summer, winter, and fall.
