Recently we got a new mirror for the store near us, brand new, at least that’s what we were told. We decided to put it in the common area as all the other rooms already had mirrors. I live with my kid, Nate, it’s just the two of us. My kid is old enough to clean after themselves and that helps.

I was cleaning and I saw a few fingerprints on the mirror, I was a little annoyed and thought my kid did it. So, I told him to clean it up, maybe to teach responsibly? Or was I just lazy? He starts insisting that it wasn’t his fault. But I was adamant as he was the one playing near it. He whined a little but promised to clean up once he was free.

A few days later, I see the same fingerprints on them. “Not again?” I said as I look at the dirty mirror. This made me furious as to why Nate always messed it up and never cleaned. I called him and it was the same script all over again. He said he didn’t do it, and I scold him and tell him, he should take responsibility for his actions.

That evening this whole situation made me think as to why Nate was acting like that and messing up the mirror. I also realized that I might have been too harsh over something really small.

I settled on cleaning the mirror myself. I took the cleaning supplies from my kitchen and went to the common area. I stood before the mirror wondering what would’ve made those fingerprints. Then brushed it off as an accident.

I started by spraying some Lysol on the mirror and cleaning with a wipe afterward. Once I was done, I noticed they didn’t come off. I tried again, they should come off easily as they were just a few oil and dirt smudges on the glass. The second time too they didn’t come off. This made me a little worried as this was a new mirror and I didn’t want it to get spoiled so soon.

I took a closer look to figure out why they were so stubborn. I examined them for a few good minutes. Only to realize they were on the inside of the mirror.
