No two Giants can stand being around the other very long; it seemed as if their human depositions scaled up along with their size. In the past, most Giants roamed until they were slain by one of their own kind, never gaining the opportunity to grow beyond the height of an apple tree. It was only when the Giants were adopted by governments as weapons of war did they begin to grow to the mammoth proportions that we see today.

The Giants never formed societies on their own; some theorize its the natural way to prevent giants from growing as large as they do now. The regular folk noticed that the Giants did not negotiate or compromise with anyone; the largest always dictated their terms. Their internal conflicts meant they fought more than they ate. The human countries enticed them with endless heads of cattle and lakes of wine so they they would pick up a sword.

The employed giants grew to gargantuan sizes, the largest being able to undo a stone city with a deep, resonating bellow alone. Rivers could be re-directed into charging armies with a few steps, solid rock fortifications were crushed with bare hands and entire fleets of warships capsized in a single splash. Human weapons and tactics were comically small against the Giants that fought under the banner of their appointed land. They fought until only 7 countries and their giants remained.

The seven giants were so mammoth that their voices could not be truly be understood anymore, and so couriers and criers carried their messages. They require so much land and their waste is so great that the countries that they were sworn to protect have become their bedpan. The people of the countries are torn as to what to do with the Giants- half of the population points to how much they consume and how little they actually defend anymore, and how much better off the people would be with their titanic volumes of resources. The others warn that if our Giant was killed, one of the other 6 would consume us. Giants never stopped getting stronger, and they never died of old age. They are an ever-growing threat.

Our country hosts the largest giant. Our fields are perpetually bare. The animals that made up so much of our world are now all near extinct. There was a senator that proposed limiting food to the Giant; the Giant’s supporters found the senator and placed him along with the Giant’s 20-ton beef breakfast…as an offering.

They have already begun eating prisoners. I wonder how long it is before our Giant eats the rest of us. I wonder how we would even resist.
