Gary was turning 45 tomorrow . He was in a bit of a slump lately. He felt tired and sluggishly unmotivated. He was overwhelmed with work and yet just couldn’t discover his stride.
He was feeling unappreciated at home and was needing reassurance and attention. Sadly his wife probably felt the same .
Gary packed for his conference with mild optimism thinking maybe a week in a hotel and spending time with colleagues would inspire him.
After a long drive Gary checked into the hotel. He got a cart and hung his suits and put his bags on it to go to his room .
As he wheeled the cart towards the door he noticed a well dressed woman probably in her 50’s struggling with two bags. Gary smiled , those look heavy care to distribute the cart? The woman smiled and politely mentioned she hadn’t checked in yet. It’s ok I’m in no rush ,Gary said honestly . They went to the counter and she began to check in . Gary had been coming to this hotel for seminar for years most of the staff knew him well. The manager smiled at Gary are you helping Miss Julie with her bags . I am apparently all of the carts are busy right now. They made small talk and then headed to the elevator the manager had put them in rooms next to each other .
After helping Julie with her bags Gary unloaded his and excused himself to return the cart.
Gary couldn’t get Julie’s pleasant look and demeanor out of his head. She was attractive in a very soft unassuming way.
She was well dressed and well kept, her hair was long and held back neatly her shape was curvy . She had a medium create and her features were mostly concealed by her conservative style.
Gary laughed at himself. As he wondered I must be such a fool thinking about this woman who gave no indication that she noticed me for anything except my kindness.
Gary returned to his room and began settling in. There was a soft knock on the door that adjoined his room to Julie’s.
Gary ? Are you in there came a soft almost pleading tone .

Gary went to the door and unlocked it and tentatively opened it .
Gary smiled softly . Is everything ok Julie?
Julie smiled , her face slightly pink in the cheeks and her response was slow . You were so kind and I was wondering if you would help me with something sort of embarrassing?

Gary could sense her hesitation , embarrassing you say? No need to be embarrassed. How can I help you .
Before saying a word Julie turned facing away from him . Immediately Gary saw the problem. Some how the fine chain of the delicate necklace she wore was caught in the zipper of her pencil dress.

Oh I see Gary said . I take it you weren’t planning on staying in this dress all week?
Gary chided trying to relieve the tension and lighten the moment.
