“Hold on,” The captain commanded, his voice laced with urgency and determination. He swiftly switched to the ship’s comm, his voice filled with authority as he gave his next order to Malcolm, who was waiting at the transporter console. “Lt. Reed, get them out of there.” He barely finished the sentence before he turned away from the bridge, his mind focused on one thing – saving Danaë and Nathan.

As the Captain raced towards D deck, Lt. Reed skillfully manipulated the controls, activating the transporter. Within moments, a mesmerizing blue glow began to envelop the platform, slowly taking shape and transforming into two human silhouettes – Danaë and Nathan. They materialized in a crumpled heap, with Nathan still shielding Danaë with his body. Before Major Forrest could comprehend their return to the Enterprise, Archer came running down the corridor, pushing past crew members in his path. His heart pounded in his chest as he reached the transporter and scooped Danaë up into his arms.

“I promised you I would bring her back,” Archer whispered passionately, his emotions pouring out.

“Thank you,” the captain said, a profound sense of relief washing over him, as emergency medics swiftly attended to Nathan. Knowing Maj. Forrest was in good hands, Archer carried Danaë, his touch gentle yet urgent, moving as fast as he could towards the lift and to Dr. Phlox on E-Deck.

Every second felt like an eternity, filled with anticipation and worry. Everyone in the corridor could sense the urgency in the captain’s movements and instinctively cleared a path for him. Archer’s determination pushed him forward, making record time as he shouted for people to move apart.

Finally, he reached E-Deck and laid Danaë on the table before Dr. Phlox, who wasted no time in examining her injuries. Archer anxiously watched as the doctor ran scanners over her body, revealing broken ribs and dark bruises on her face. The captain’s heart ached at the sight, his concern growing.

Unknown to Archer, there was something else that Dr. Phlox had discovered – something that would change everything. As the doctor scanned Danaë’s lower abdomen, his expression turned serious. Archer looked at the image, trying to comprehend what he was seeing. A large dark space, with a distinct bean-shaped object on one side. The sound of a heartbeat resonated through the room, too fast to belong to Danaë.

Confusion flooded Archer’s mind until Dr. Phlox broke the silence, his words filled with a heavy weight. “Yes… It’s a fetus. She’s about seven weeks along.”

The captain’s breath caught in his throat, his eyes widening with a mix of shock and wonder. In that moment, the weight of the truth began to settle upon him – a truth he had never expected. It all made sense now, the two glorious days and nights they had spent together on Risa. He had longed for something more than just war and death, and fate had given him an unexpected gift.

Unable to discover his voice, Archer closed his eyes, taking deep breaths to regain his composure. The realization overwhelmed him, but he knew his priority was still Danaë’s well-being. “Did she know…?” he finally managed to ask.

“I don’t believe so,” Dr. Phlox explained compassionately. “Her irregular periods, body weight, and treatments for her depression… It’s unlikely she would have gone on this mission if she had known.”

Archer absorbed the information, his mind reeling with a mix of emotions. But his thoughts were abruptly interrupted as an alarm blared within sickbay. Danaë’s condition had worsened, and panic spread through the room. Dr. Phlox and his medical team immediately began working to save her, their every action filled with urgency.

Archer, consumed by worry and fear, found himself yelling her name, desperate for her to fight, for her to hold on. But the doctor, recognizing his presence as a hindrance, ordered security to remove Archer from sickbay. Helplessly, the captain watched as the door closed, separating him from the woman he loved.

Left alone in the corridor, Archer’s thoughts raced, his mind replaying memories of their journey together through the galaxy. He slowly sank to the floor, a bittersweet smile playing on his lips as he reflected on their past.

Lost in his own thoughts, another memory emerged – a tender and embarrassing moment they had shared. A encounter with a strange species had revealed their desires, their longing for something more profound. And now, in the midst of chaos and uncertainty, Archer couldn’t help but wonder how different it all might have been if he hadn’t found her on that Suliban ship.

Sitting there, he couldn’t deny the threads of fate entwining their lives, weaving a new, unexpected story. And as he waited, his heart and mind filled with love and hope, Archer knew that whatever the outcome, their journey was far from over.
