Daisy went out into the beer garden of the Rovers and saw a frustrated looking Maria Connor sitting on the bench. She asked: “I would ask if everything is OK but the answer to that is pretty obvious.” On hearing Daisy, Maria looked up and weakly smiled, replying: “That obvious huh?”

Sitting down next to Maria, Daisy said: “Well if it helps, a significant part of my job is listening to people complaining about their problems, which is significantly more bearable when the person complaining looks like you.”

Maria smiled at the compliment and knew that she definitely needed to offload to somebody, and given that Daisy had just offered to listen this was the perfect opportunity. She said: “It just feels like the last few months have been one thing after another and it’s never going to stop.”

It was fair to say Maria had been through a lot- Kelly, the girl she had come to think of as a daughter, had fled the country after finding out Maria’s husband Gary killed her dad, while Maria’s time as a councillor to this point had seen her receive death threats, as well as Weatherfield become targeted by a racist gang.
