Maggie was woken up by her parents, who were both loudly singing happy birthday in an obnoxious tone…

“Happy birthday sweetheart,” her father said, before blowing on a party blower.

Maggie wiped the sleep from her eyes, groggily.

“You got a surprise in the garden,” her mother said, excitedly.

Maggie’s eyes widened…

“What is it?” Maggie asked.

Her parents chuckled.

“Why don’t you go and have a look,” her mother said, as she smiled.

Maggie got out of bed, and proceeded downstairs. She opened the back door, and stepped out into the warmth of the sun. When she saw the bright pink Wendy House, she was overwhelmed with joy.

“I love it so much!” Maggie yelled, happily.

Her parents both looked on proudly. They watched as she stepped inside the little plastic house, and closed the door behind her.

Inside the Wendy House was pitch black. Maggie felt her way through the darkness, completely blind. Her arms out in front of her expecting to find a wall. But only finding open darkness, that seemingly went on for infinity.

After endlessly feeling through the darkness, Maggie started to panic. Her breathing became heavy, and the darkness seemed to be crushing her under its weight. Slowly constricting her lungs, and her sanity.

Was that skittering she could hear following her amongst the darkness?

Maggie suddenly jumped as a sinister voice spoke…

“Do you like your new house?”

Maggie froze with fear…

“W-who’s there?” Maggie asked, timidly.

She heard something skitter to her left side, and the voice whispered in her ear…

“Me!”

Maggie ran as fast as she could into the darkness. The skittering followed her. She ran blindly, hoping to find the exit. But the darkness was infinite. Maggie dropped to the floor, and cried in defeat.

Loud shrieking laughter echoed all around, causing her ears to ring, and disorienting her even more. Her head began to spin, as she thought back the urge to vomit.

“Leave me alone!” Maggie yelled, as she shook with fear.

The laughing suddenly stopped, and Maggie heard something moving in the darkness up ahead, before the voice replied…

“No! I’m hungry!” The voice said, before hissing.

There was a ball of light slowly illuminating ahead of her, showing the outline of something big. The light grew brighter, and the room was bathed in light, revealing what had been stalking her in the darkness. Maggie screamed.

The bright ball of light was actually the head of a half humanoid spider-like creature with eight legs. It was now skittering with frightening speed towards Maggie, she tried to run, but she was no match for the monstrosity behind her.

The creature pounced on her, and began wrapping her in web, as her bloodcurdling screams became muffled.

Maggie’s parents both watched the Wendy House, as they sat in the garden having a cup of tea…

“I think Maggie’s enjoying herself. She hasn’t even come back out yet!” Maggie’s mum said, as she sipped her tea.
