Maybe you found this poem stuffed away in a drawer
Or in a strange little bottle that washed up on the shore
Or in a stocking, a pocket, or carved into a bone
It’s mostly just harmless (unless it got into your phone)
(in which case; never read it alone)
This poem has rules though, and before you read on;
you should look over your shoulder to see if they’re gone
(by they, I mean them, I mean, you know who I mean)
and if you still haven’t looked they’ll remain in-between
(forever unseen)
The first rule is simple: Do NOT be alarmed
when the words start to ǝןqɯnɾ (they mean you no harm)
(They do feel your fear though, so please be advised;
remain calm at all times, and do NOT move your ? ? )
2.
The
second
rule
is clever, it’s
lying in wait
To put it quite bluntly;
you MUST read rule eight
3.
The the third rule is changing
even as your eyes read
Was the second “the” there?
Or have you just been deceived?
(the rule says to never believe)
4.
444: Rule not found
11.
The fifth and the sixth, are in essence the same
One spells out “LEAVE”
and the other “REMAIN”
(but which is which again?)
7.
The seventh rule is precious, quite close to my heart
But you should be careful, lest it tears you apart
In essence, ubiquitously, heed this advice;
NEVER, that’s NEVER, should you read ANY word twice
8. DO NOT READ
You shouldn’t have read this,
we told you before
Thus beware of strange whispers
and knocks on your door
(and don’t mind the shadow
that now lives in your floor)
In truth though this poem can do you no harm
So there no need to worry, or cause for alarm
Though thousands may read it, with all said and done;
this poem is picky, and will only
choose
ONE
