I thought a party in the woods would be fun. Booze, girls, drugs, music and no parents.

There was plenty of girls there but one caught my eye, she was petite, blonde, very pretty and she was looking me up and down. I thought something could happen and I began to walk towards her, though the drunk crowd, we locked eyes and at that moment I stopped. There was something off about her, maybe her eyes, her skin, her smile? I made the decision to quickly turn into the crowd. When I was out of sight a shiver ran down my spine. I was confused at my actions but it was like a primal urge to get away.

A few hours pass and as more and more alcohol entered my system that brief interaction had all but left my mind and I was having fun. Eventually, nature began to call I went a few meters from the party. I stood behind a tree and began to empty my bladder, as I finished up I looked to my right for no particular reason and about 10 feet away the girl from earlier lay on the floor, covered in blood and dirt.

I sprinted back to the party, ready to scream but all I managed was a silent cry that everyone was too drunk to notice. Because there she was, among the crowd, staring at me and grinning, no not grinning, smiling an impossibly wide smile. Her smile was fucking ear to ear, her lips looked to be cracked and bleeding, here eyes… holy shit her eyes. They were black, completely engulfed in a darkness like I had never seen, like the coal they burn in the furnaces of hell. This thing had assumed the identity of that poor girl and turned her into the most horrifying thing on this planet.

I was paralysed, I only moved when I saw it slowly creep towards me. I went from frozen in my tracks to Olympic sprinter real quick, through the crowd, I made it to the road and ran until I found a petrol station we passed on the way. I called a taxi, waited inside and got some funny looks but I didn’t care. I felt sick to my stomach that it would show up but it never did.

My taxi arrived and we sat in silence, he could probably tell I wasn’t in a chatty mood. Eventually, we arrived and I speed walked to my door, desperate to get in but wanting to appear normal to my driver.

Sat inside, I actually began to think I imagined it all and perhaps someone slipped me something. That was until about an hour ago when I saw it at the bottom of the garden. Now as I type this from under my bed with the footsteps getting further up the stairs, I realise it was all very real.
