From 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM, staff are stationed behind the reception desk on the ground floor of each apartment. They are equipped with a master key. Please avoid leaving the apartment after 10:00 PM, as there will be no one to let you in in case you forget your keys.

If you do decide to go on a late night walk, please refer to the map of the Compounds attached below, even if you are familiar with the areas, and stick to only the paths on the map.

The Compounds has 6 apartments, each divided into 2 units. Apartments 3, 5 and 6 are located on the south side of the Compounds, the former two located along Mailan Path, the latter located on the other side of Louye Bridge.

Both Apartment 3 and 6 have roundabouts in front of them, while Apartment 5 does not. These roundabouts’ are only for pedestrians, and are unsuitable for vehicles.

When walking along the Ziluo Path late at night, take a look at the number of the apartment nearby every time you pass a roundabout. If the number above the front gate of the apartment is 5, please leave the roundabout immediately, back the way you came. Don’t look back. Tell yourself that your tired eyes are deceiving you. Return to your apartment and spend the night in the first floor lobby. You may return to your home the next morning. If your apartment is Apartment 5, please spend the night in the lobby of any other apartment.

Apartments 1, 2 and 4 are located on the north side of the compound. All three apartments are located along Xiaodong Path. Apartment 1 is the only apartment where units are combined into one double building rather than separate buildings. In front of Apartment 1 is a large roundabout with a fountain in the center for vehicles to pass through. Locate this fountain on foggy days to find your way to Apartment 1. Do not trust any other landmarks.

The north side has a known weather phenomenon in which it would occasionally get extremely windy and foggy, even in midsummer. These events happen at random and occur once or twice a week. They usually last around 2 hours before everything goes back to usual. If you happen to be outside, immediately seek shelter in Apartment 1. Go behind the divider between the units and wait until the sun comes out again. If you can hear screams, howls, or sirens outside, do not investigate and do not leave your hiding place. They are just the wind.

The Compounds has three entrances/exits. They are the Qingchun Road Front Gate, the Qianjiang Road Back Gate and the Wanxiang West Bridge Gate. The Compounds does not have a functional North Gate, as the land behind it is currently private property. Going beyond it is considered trespassing, and all violators will be punished by Chinese law. There is no garden behind the gate.

On the other side of the North Gate, it is common to see the carcasses of small animals, such as garden snakes, porcupines, squirrels, and magpies. Do not mind them. Staff cleanse the carcasses every other day. However, if you happen to walk past the North Gate late at night and find a deer carcass on the other side of the gate, please leave the gate immediately, back the way you came. Don’t look back. Tell yourself that your tired eyes are deceiving you. Return to your apartment and spend the night in the first floor lobby. You may return to your home the next morning. Please remember that we are in the middle of a large city, and there are no deers. Never return back to the North Gate at night without at least 5 in company. Our staff at Oriental Royal Compounds work hard, so please refrain from increasing their workload.

Apartment 1 has 30 floors, while all other apartments have 28 floors. If you return home late at night, enter the elevator, and find buttons for floors higher than the correct amount, please leave the elevator immediately. Don’t look back. Tell yourself that your tired eyes are deceiving you. Spend the night in the first floor lobby. You may return to your home the next morning. This rule is especially important if you had encountered anything strange earlier.

Beware even if the elevator appears fine when you enter. Our elevators are known to occasionally malfunction between 10:00 PM and 7:00 AM. A screen displaying the current floor can be found above the button panel. If you press the button for a floor, but find the elevator moving past it, it means the elevator is malfunctioning. Go to a corner and crouch. You may feel the elevator start to ascend uncontrollably, and the screen displaying numbers in the hundreds. Close your eyes, and keep steady. Don’t move from the corner until you feel the elevator stop moving. Open your eyes and look at the screen. If it displays ground floor, please leave the elevator and spend the night in the ground floor lobby. You may return to your home the next morning.

If the screen displays a floor higher than the correct number of floors for your apartment, press ground floor, return to the corner and close your eyes. Repeat this step until the screen displays ground floor. Never leave the elevator at any floor other than ground floor, or you may find yourself no longer in the Compounds. In that case, we are not responsible for your well-being.

There are many small Buddhist shrines scattered around the trees between paths. You may use them as normal shrines any time. However, when it rains, these shrines can serve as a means of departure. Please keep in mind that there is no way back.

Beyond Apartment 6 is Wanxiang West Bridge Gate. If you are taking a late night walk and find a seventh apartment where there should be a gate, please leave the area immediately, back the way you came. Don’t look back. Tell yourself that your tired eyes are deceiving you. Return to your apartment and spend the night in the first floor lobby. You may return to your home the next morning. Do not enter the seventh apartment under any circumstances. You have encountered a major irregularity. At this point, we recommend that you terminate your stay at the Compounds as soon as possible.

The three-story resort is located at the far northwest end of the Compounds. On the first floor there is a lobby, a small snack shop, a restaurant and two bathrooms. On the second floor, there is an indoor pool. The third floor is currently not in use and there is no reason to go there. In times of peril, this is your last resort if you forget your keys and are unable to enter any apartment building. The snack bar staff works until 3:00 AM. The lights in the lobby never go out, and it is safe to spend the night there. We do not offer food at the restaurant after hours. If you see any, ignore them.

You are welcome to use the showers in the pool’s locker rooms. Remind yourself that you are alone in the showers, and do not investigate the giggling.

Shopping carts from the snack bar are allowed to be brought to other areas of the resort. You are allowed to ride and slide around on them, especially if you are being chased.

Deers are pedestrians; vehicles are contaminated and at risk. If the above procedures are not completed in time, for the safety of other residents, our staff has the right to terminate the violator.
